Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 August 2026 · Applies to the Lyceum mobile app and lycea.net

This policy explains what Lyceum collects, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. It describes how the product actually works rather than covering every theoretical case.

Beta notice. Lyceum is in private beta. Features and data handling may change, and we will update this page and the "last updated" date when they do.

1. Who we are

Lycea ("we", "us") builds and operates Lyceum, an AI voice companion for phones. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

Contact for any privacy question or request: admin@lycea.net.

2. What we collect

Account information

You sign in with Google. From that sign-in we receive and store your user identifier, email address, display name and profile photo URL, and whether your email is verified. We never see or store your Google password.

Your conversations

We store the conversations you have with a companion: the messages you send, the replies generated, and which companion and dialect you chose. This is what lets a conversation continue across sessions and devices.

Voice

When you record a voice message or use voice mode, audio is transmitted and converted to text so the companion can respond, and text is converted back to speech. Audio is processed to deliver the feature; we do not use your voice to create a voice model of you.

Files you send

Photos, documents, video and audio you attach are uploaded and processed so the companion can read, watch or listen to them, and are stored so they can be shown back to you in the conversation.

Content you generate

Images and video generated at your request are stored and served back to your conversation.

Settings you choose

Your language, theme, personal instructions, any companions you build, and your notification preference.

Diagnostics

On Android we use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to receive crash reports. These include device model, operating system version, app version and a non-permanent installation identifier.

Notifications

If you opt in to check-ins, we store a push notification token for your device so we can deliver them. This is off by default.

We do not collect your contacts, your location, or your browsing activity outside the app, and we do not use advertising identifiers.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Lyceum is built on Google, and Google processes data on our behalf as a service provider:

We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to protect the rights and safety of users or of Lycea.

5. Where it is stored

Our backend runs on Google Cloud infrastructure in Europe (europe-west4, Netherlands). Google's services may process data in other countries. Where data leaves your region, it is transferred under the safeguards Google offers for its cloud services.

6. How long we keep it

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent.

You can change your settings and delete individual conversations in the app at any time. For anything else, including deleting your account and all associated data, email admin@lycea.net and we will action it. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Children

Lyceum is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is restricted to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected users and regulators where the law requires it if a breach occurs.

10. AI-generated content

Replies are produced by AI models and can be wrong. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. See the Terms and Conditions.

11. Changes

We will post any change here and update the date at the top. Material changes will also be notified in the app.

12. Contact
